Power Supply Replacement
To replace the power supply, shut down the system, remove power, remove
the system cover, refer to the figure, and perform the following procedure:
- Disconnect the power cables from the drives.
- Remove the internal mass storage drive bay; refer to the section on Internal Drives in Removing Mass Storage Devices, and follow the first two steps, leaving any mass storage devices in the bay.
- Disconnect the power supply cables from their MLB connectors and other options.
Hint: To release the power supply cables from the MLB, reach into the space under the lower enclosure divider to access and press the center tab on each of the three connectors, but remove the cables via the middle compartment.
- From the rear of the system, remove the four screws (1) that secure the
power supply to the chassis.
- Remove the retaining screw (2) which holds the upper enclosure divider (3).
- Slide the divider toward the front of the enclosure to release it and gain access to the power supply underneath.
- Slide the power supply (4) slightly forward and then lift it out the side while guiding the cable harness.
- Insert the new power supply into the system. Ensure that the two tabs on the bottom engage the chassis shelf.
- Secure the power supply with four screws from the rear of the system.
- Reposition the enclosure divider and replace the rear retaining screw.
- Replace the internal storage bay.
- Reconnect all power supply cables and replace the cover.
